My Work

Building Tools People Trust

From Policy to Prototype

From Policy to Prototype tells the story of how I used AI to accelerate discovery and design, building a functional prototype that helped to align the team and was the foundation for a working MVP. This case study highlights how a small team turned policy into something real and usable—in just a few weeks. While I cannot share the actual project, I will show a simulated project that demonstrates the full process used.

Land Management with GIS

Land Management Platform changed the way government manages property acquisition and disposal for highway projects. From fragmented systems and paper-based work streams, we designed a centralized, map-first experience that brought 16+ integrations into a single application. This case study highlights how thoughtful UX design helped simplify complexity.

Intelligent Voter Information System (IVIS)

Intelligent Voter Information System (IVIS) was designed as a multi-channel experience—spanning web, voice, chatbot, and SMS—to simplify how voters access key information. This case study highlights how I combined user research and stakeholder input to create a flexible platform for voters across all experience levels.

Data Dashboards

The director of multiple federal programs was struggling to get a clear view of each program’s finances on a monthly basis. Reports were manual and often lost in email. In this case study, I share how I mapped the entire data journey, brought together over 30 stakeholders, and designed a dashboard experience that served both high-level leadership needs and detailed program insights. In doing so we cut 70% of the manual reporting work.

Louisiana Geaux Vote App

Louisiana GeauxVote was a redesign of the state’s official election app, focused on making voter information more accessible, intuitive, and reliable. We simplified key flows like registration status, sample ballots, and polling locations, while also supporting poll workers. This case study shows how thoughtful mobile-first design helped modernize a trusted tool for voters across Louisiana.

“Thelma’s design work went beyond visuals. For one project, she made sure our tool was not only 508 compliant and consistent with Agency standards, but actually easy for people to navigate. She captured detailed feedback during UAT, asked questions nobody else thought to ask, and was detailed in capturing user needs. Thelma’s availability to clarify designs and support during implementation was incredibly helpful. Working with Thelma has made our collaboration both productive and enjoyable.”
