From Policy to Prototype tells the story of how I used AI to accelerate discovery and design, building a functional prototype that helped to align the team and was the foundation for a working MVP. This case study highlights how a small team turned policy into something real and usable—in just a few weeks. While I cannot share the actual project, I will show a simulated project that demonstrates the full process used.
The director of multiple federal programs was struggling to get a clear view of each program’s finances on a monthly basis. Reports were manual and often lost in email. In this case study, I share how I mapped the entire data journey, brought together over 30 stakeholders, and designed a dashboard experience that served both high-level leadership needs and detailed program insights. In doing so we cut 70% of the manual reporting work.
“Thelma’s design work went beyond visuals. For one project, she made sure our tool was not only 508 compliant and consistent with Agency standards, but actually easy for people to navigate. She captured detailed feedback during UAT, asked questions nobody else thought to ask, and was detailed in capturing user needs. Thelma’s availability to clarify designs and support during implementation was incredibly helpful. Working with Thelma has made our collaboration both productive and enjoyable.”
